Starting at $799, the Galaxy S24 offers 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. For more power and space, the Galaxy S24 Plus has 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage and costs $999. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is the most expensive model at $1,299, with the same RAM and storage as the Plus. All Galaxy S24 models went on sale on January 31.

The S24 Ultra is $100 more than last year’s model. This could be due to various reasons, such as the lack of a cheaper 8GB RAM option. However, the exact cause is unknown.

The Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus come in four colors: Onyx Black, Marble Gray, Cobalt Violet and Amber Yellow. You can also get them in Jade Green, Sapphire Blue, or Sandstone Orange from Samsung.com. The Galaxy S24 Ultra has four colors too: Titanium Gray, Titanium Black, Titanium Violet, and Titanium Yellow. The Samsung.com exclusives are Titanium Green, Titanium Blue, and Titanium Orange.

The Galaxy S24, with its 6.2-inch flat AMOLED display, boasts impressive FHD+ resolution. Its adaptive refresh rate dynamically switches between 1 and 120Hz, depending on usage.

The S24 Plus and S24 Ultra both offer even larger, flat screens at 6.7- and 6.8-inches, respectively, with QHD+ resolution and the same adaptive refresh rate. Interestingly, this marks the first year since 2015 without a curved display on any Galaxy S flagship.

Despite this, the S24 Ultra flaunts 42% slimmer bezels than its predecessor, and is even thinner than the S23 Ultra. Its Gorilla Armor screen is four times more scratch resistant and reduces up to 75% of screen reflectivity. The back panel, as well as the display and back panel of the S24 and S24 Plus, are also made of Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

All three phones offer a 2,600 nit display, with Samsung boasting a 40% increase in outdoor visibility. The standard and Plus models feature aluminum frames, while the S24 Ultra’s titanium frame, with a satin finish, takes inspiration from Apple. Additionally, its advanced vapor chamber cooling system is now 1.9 times larger, critical for heat management given titanium’s reputation.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Performance

Depending on where you live, you’ll get either the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or the Exynos 2400 chipset in the Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus. The S24 Ultra has a special version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, called “for Galaxy”. This chip has a better NPU for AI tasks and might boost the overall performance too.

We don’t know how fast the Galaxy S24 phones are yet, but they should be faster than last year’s models. They all have at least 12GB of RAM, which is more than before.

Samsung says the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is more powerful and efficient than previous chips. It also promises amazing gaming performance, with smooth gameplay, high performance, realistic lighting and shadows, and enhanced ray tracing.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Camera

The Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus have a triple lens rear camera and a 12MP selfie camera. The lenses are 50MP main, 12MP ultrawide, and 10MP telephoto.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra has a four lens rear camera and the same selfie camera. The lenses are 200MP main, 12MP ultrawide, 50MP telephoto, and 10MP telephoto.

The Ultra’s camera can zoom up to 10x with optical quality. It uses a Quad Tele System that crops a 12MP image. It also has a 100x digital zoom.

The Ultra’s camera has Space Zoom for low light photos. It adjusts to your movement and has larger pixels and wider OIS.

The camera has improved noise reduction and AI image editing. It fills in blank spaces with generative AI. Super HDR shows realistic previews and works with social apps.

These specs are amazing, but you need to try them yourself. The camera has many AI features that improve your photos.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Battery and Charging

The Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus have bigger batteries this year. The S24 has 4,000 mAh and the S24 Plus has 4,900 mAh. The S24 Ultra still has 5,000 mAh, which is huge compared to its rivals. The S23 Ultra also has great battery life.

Galaxy battery life has improved a lot in the last few years. The non-Ultra phones will benefit from bigger batteries. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset also makes them more efficient, along with other Samsung optimizations. The Galaxy S24 Ultra has the best battery life of any flagship phone.

The Galaxy S24 can charge up to 25W, which gives 50% charge in 30 minutes. The S24 Plus and Ultra can charge up to 45W, which gives 65% charge in the same time.

All phones have Fast Wireless Charging 2.0, which gives up to 15W speeds.

Samsung Galaxy S24 AI

Galaxy AI is a main feature of the Galaxy S24 series, with many AI-powered functions. Samsung has partnered with Google and Qualcomm to offer AI experiences that enhance user experience and creative freedom. Many of them are also helpful, such as:

  • Browsing assist: which summarizes content
  • Chat Assist: that offers AI translation, tone adjustments and rewriting in six tones or styles
  • Android Auto: which summarizes messages and suggests replies and actions
  • Notes app: which has Transcribe Assist, that can translate, transcribe, summarize and format. It can also tidy up your handwriting if you use the S Pen
  • Live Translate: a two-way interpreter in the phone app, with 13 languages and 17 dialects
  • Circle to Search with Google: that lets you circle content and see Google search results without leaving your app

Samsung has also improved Galaxy AI editing tools for the camera, with new and enhanced features. The Galaxy S24 can analyze your shots and suggest improvements. It learns from your photos and gives you better results. Additionally, Instant Slow-Mo and Generative Edit let you edit your videos and photos with AI.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Sustainability

The Galaxy S24 series has 7 years of software support, like Google. You can use your phone longer and get Android OS and security updates. You may also get 7 years of spare parts if something breaks.

The Galaxy S24 batteries have at least 50% recycled cobalt. The phone uses recycled steel and TPU. Samsung also says some components have recycled materials, such as 100% recycled neodynium and 40% recycled steel in the speakers. The packaging is 100% recycled paper too.

The volume and side keys have “a minimum of 10%” recycled TPU. That’s not very impressive, but it’s something. We wish the whole phone had more recycled materials, not just a few parts.
